I sat where you are sitting.
I was a foster parent in the state of Georgia for nine years, from 2015 to 2024. I did not come into it knowing anything. I learned it the way most people learn it, in the middle of it, with children already in my house and no one sitting down to explain what came next.
In 2024, I adopted the last sibling we fought to keep together. That fight took hiring my own lawyer. I learned that the system does not always move for you. Sometimes you have to move it yourself.
I stopped fostering after that. Nine years of children coming in and out of my home, and when they left, most times you never find out where they landed. I could not keep doing it.
What I know now, I learned the hard way. How the meetings work. What the court actually wants. What gets a case moving and what stalls it. Nobody handed me that. I want to hand it to you.
That is what Foster Care Table Talk is. A place to sit down with somebody who has been through it, and find out what you are actually dealing with. No jargon. No judgment. Just the truth.
